A Vision and Framework for Research Cultures

About the event

The culmination of several years of discussions, activities, positions, and events – Science Europe presents a Vision and Framework for Research Cultures that aims to synthesise research policy advances towards the shared objective of supporting knowledge advancement and enabling the quality and impact of research.

The new Science Europe Vision & Framework offers a comprehensive and long-term perspective to define institutional policies to support the evolution of research cultures in Europe and globally, embedding and further reinforcing our Science Europe’s shared values. It builds upon a range of recent policy activities from supporting Diversity to promoting attractive Careers in Research, and from embedding Open Science to ensuring Integrity and Ethics in research practice. A supporting framework sets out conditions and to enable effective action, and Science Europe makes a number of commitments to act and support actions towards the shares vision.

Format

Following a welcome by Science Europe President, a short synopsis of Science Europe’s activities under the Strategic Priority of Research Culture will be provided. The new Research Cultures Vision and Framework will be presented by the co-chairs of Science Europe’s Working Group on Research Culture. Finally, discussions involving representatives from key stakeholder groups and the audience will focus on policies and practices for fostering institutional and systemic research culture evolution, asking the question: what steps need to be taken (and by who) to reach the vision presented?
