Report of the 2023 High Level Workshop on the ERA

This report presents a summary of the two events that took place as part of the 2023 High Level Workshop on the ERA, co-organised by the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation, and Universities (MCIU), and Science Europe, on 29 and 30 November. This edition of the High Level Workshop focused on ‘Challenges for Reciprocity and Equitable Scientific Collaboration Between Europe, Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean’.

The high-level participants, representing major research performing and research funding organisations, political authorities, policy makers, and the research sector, reflected on the need for policy tools for international scientific collaboration that foster reciprocity and equity. A satellite event, organised and hosted by CSIC, contributed to the debate by bringing together researchers engaged in international co-operations, providing their perspective on the debate, guided by two specific example research areas: 'Cultural and Natural Heritage', and 'Sustainble Value-chains in New Materials'.
