Integrity at the Heart of Healthy and Effective Research Cultures
Research integrity is a cornerstone of robust and reliable research systems, serving as the foundation for the trustworthiness of all research activities. In this statement, Science Europe re-affirms the importance of research integrity, making links to healthy research cultures, attractive working environments, and the collective goal of supporting high quality research.
The statement also reflects upon on the specific roles and responsibilities of research funding and performing organisations, highlighting actions being undertaken to ensure good research practice and offering recommendations for further action.
Research Integrity is central to all research policy topics, and the statement draws links to new opportunities and challenges such as the use of AI in research as well as ongoing priority areas such as the reform of research assessment and open science.
The European Research Area (ERA) Policy Agenda offers a forum to advance discussions to support collective progress between R&I Stakeholder Organisations and EU Member States and Associated Countries. A common platform at a European level to further enable existing community initiatives such as the European Network of Research Integrity Offices, the sharing of good practices and the provision of operational toolboxes will be of great importance in supporting good research practices in Europe and globally.
