Science Europe Supports New Instrument for Collaborative Bottom-up Research in Horizon Europe 2028–2034

Bottom-up, curiosity-driven research is the fundament on which long-term strategic competitiveness and breakthrough innovation are built.

Science Europe is therefore pleased to see momentum towards a new instrument for supporting this under the next Framework Programme for Research and Innovation, Horizon Europe 2028–2034, and takes note of the numerous proposals already made.

Now is the opportunity to establish such a new instrument, separate and complementary to existing ones, to promote collaborative bottom-up approaches and develop scientific capacity across Europe. Science Europe supports this momentum and is ready to contribute to an analysis of the best way to shape this instrument.
