Science Europe launches Tender for Study on Combating Sexual and Gender-based Violence in Research and Innovation
Science Europe invites qualified consultants to submit proposals for a comprehensive desk study into ‘Combating sexual and gender-based violence in Research & Innovation’.
The objective is to provide a better understanding of existing evidence and knowledge from scholarly research on this topic, as well as present an overview of the main available tools and instruments that could assist the implementation of effective policies and mechanisms to combat this issue.
The deadline to submit proposals is 30 September 2026.
Promoting equality, diversity, and innovation (EDI) in research is part of the core mandate of Science Europe. It is active in a wide range of initiatives and structures that promote EDI in Europe and globally, including the ERA Subgroup on Inclusive Gender Equality, the Global Research Council EDI Working Group, or GENDERACTIONPlus.
It has been a long-standing priority for Science Europe, as shown by the release of its 2017 Practical Guide to Improving Gender Equality in Research Organisations, and of its 2024 successor with a broader scope that covers all aspects of equality and inclusion, the Practical Guide to Supporting Diversity in Research Environments.
About the tender
The objective is to gain a better understanding of existing evidence and knowledge from scholarly research, as well as create an overview of the main available tools and instruments that could assist the implementation of effective policies and mechanisms to combat the issue. To this end, the consultant is requested to perform a desk research study that synthesises available scholarly literature on sexual and gender-based violence in research and innovation, and presents a review of the research, data, and reports on the topic produced by EU institutions, civil society organisations (CSOs), and EU-funded projects.
Deliverables
Requested are a report to be delivered and presented at a public webinar in April 2027, with a first draft to be presented to and discussed with the Science Europe Working Group on Research Culture in February. The report should include the requested synthesis and review.
Requirements and evaluation criteria
We are looking for someone with an advanced degree in a relevant field, with a proven track record in conducting research on equality, diversity, and inclusion or related fields, including the performance of systematic literature reviews. They should be able to demonstrate the ability to manage projects, meet deadlines, collaborate with advisory groups, and produce clear, concise, and well-structured reports including the ability to present the findings effectively to various audiences.
We will evaluate proposals based on expertise/experience, approach and methodology, quality of deliverables, and budget/value for money.
Proposals received after 30 September 2026 will not be considered for evaluation.
